The Alzheimer Society of Brant was the benefactor of a recent “Coffee Break” fundraising campaign at Millards Professional Chartered Accountants in Brantford. Four Millards staff members donated baked goods for the worthy cause. Millards employees made quick work of the homemade goodies. As a result, Millards raised $213.10 for the Alzheimer Society.

Candace Kingyens, Development Officer, Individual Giving at Alzheimer Society of Brant says that the Coffee Break campaigns offered by Millards and other local companies help the organization to deliver essential programs and work towards their mandate.

“Coffee Break is now in its’ 20th year and is one of our annual national fundraising initiatives. The idea is for individuals and organizations to come together to have a cup of coffee or hot chocolate in exchange for a donation to the Alzheimer Society.”

Julie Baetz, CPA, CA from Millards is proud of their team for their continued support of community fundraisers like Alzheimer Society’s Coffee Break.

“Our team is comprised of dedicated and passionate people with an incredible dedication to our community. We believe strongly in giving back and our staff routinely steps up for initiatives like this. Together we can help make a difference.”

Millard also supports local Alzheimer Society chapters by being hole sponsors for two annual golf tournaments – The David Hearn Charity Golf Classic and the Forget-Me-Not Golf Tournament. In addition, Millards is a main sponsor of the annual Walk for Alzheimer’s, formerly Walk for Memories.

Alzheimer Society of Brant has many events running throughout the year to raise funds for their programs and services and Kingyens says the funds support both local and national work.

“The donations support local programs as well as research to find a cure to this crippling disease.”

While Alzheimer’s receives a lot of public attention, Kingyens wants to create awareness that Alzheimer Society has a broader scope.

“We deal with Alzheimer’s but also deal with other related dementias. People with dementia and their carergivers are at the centre of everything we do.”

Kingyens encourages anyone facing a dementia challenge to contact their local office for free guidance, counselling, programs and services.
