For several years the team at Millards Chartered Professional Accountants in Brantford has been baking and selling treats during coffee breaks in September and October. The money is donated to Alzheimer Society of Brant, Haldimand Norfolk, Hamilton and Halton.

The fundraising fun got cranked up a notch this year.

Millards hosted their first Crock A Doodle mug painting event in support of our area Alzheimer Society and the pictures below tell the story.

Shelley Keats, Data Processor at Millards says the event added a new dimension to the annual fundraiser.

“The Crock A Doodle participants really enjoyed the break and a chance to get creative with their hands. 50% of the proceeds will go towards our campaign and so it was a great way for us to bond as a team and help support the incredible work of the Alzheimer Society.”

Crock A Doodle mug painting is one of the weekly fundraising events taking place on Wednesday’s that started September 12 and ends in mid October.

Candace Kingyens from Alzheimer’s Society encourages other organizations to consider similar fundraising initiatives.

“We’re eager to find other community partners that can host their own coffee break event to support those affected by dementia in our community.”

The Alzheimer Society leverages its resources to deliver health promotion, advocacy and support services to people with dementia, those at greatest risk of developing dementia and their caregivers.

“Our vision is to help people with dementia live well as vital and integral members of their community. People with dementia are at the centre of everything we do.”
