The 2015 Relay For Life event in Brant raised over $80,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society. Millards Chartered Professional Accountants was a proud sponsor of the annual event that brought together cancer survivors as well as their families, friends and community supporters. The successful fundraiser held at Brantford’s Lion’s Park drew dozens of organization, corporate and family teams who walked the Lion’s Park track in a non-competitive team relay to show their support for cancer research and to remember loved ones lost to cancer.
Participants wrote messages on luminaries to honour those who passed from cancer. Hundreds of flickering luminaries lined the track in defiance of cancer and in remembrance of those who succumbed to this devastating disease.
The primary goal of the June 12th event was to raise awareness and funds to help end cancer. The 2015 Relay for Life Brant Committee worked hard to deliver a heartfelt & memorable Relay For Life event this year and their efforts were rewarded. An enthusiastic crowd enjoyed the food, fun and entertainment that included country line dance instruction with Joan Minnery’s Waistliners, Zumba instruction from Team Gretzky and live music from Backburner and Pleasant Ridge.
The Canadian Cancer Society is a national community-based organization of volunteers whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer.
