A Millards foursome took to the greens in August to raise money for Alexandra Hospital in Ingersoll. The annual GM Cami Assembly Alexandra Hospital Foundation Annual Charity Golf Tournament drew 144 golfers from around the area in support of the Hospital.

Julie_Baetz_MillardsJulie Baetz, CPA, CA, LPA and Partner at Millards Chartered Professional Accountants joined her teammates Kevin Carr, Samantha Dykstra and Josh McMaster for the daylong tournament that raised critical funds for equipment.

“The GM Cami tournament is a great fundraiser for the Alexandra Hospital foundation. It’s getting bigger every year and it helps to raise awareness and funds for this important community resource.”

Government funding does not cover the costs of new medical equipment and so the Alexandra Hospital Foundation counts on grants, donations, gifts and the proceeds of fund raising projects.

Alexandra Hospital CEO, Crystal Houze, says that the facility has been keeping “healthcare close to home” for the Ingersoll community for more than a century.

“Alexandra Hospital has served Ingersoll and the surrounding areas for over 100 years. Over the years our services have changed, and they continue to change to meet the needs of our population while providing the highest standards of quality care to our patients and families.”

The annual GM Cami Assembly Alexandra Hospital Foundation Annual Charity Golf Tournament was held on Thursday August 11 at the Ingersoll Golf Club. Built in 1952, Ingersoll Golf Club boasts an 18 Hole Championship layout.

While the tournament players were challenged by intermittent rain and muggy weather, Baetz says the the humidity was a minor deterrent to fun and fundraising.

“GM Cami presented the association with a cheque for $30,000 at the evening banquet dinner. That’s a pretty impressive contribution coming from a day of recreation and mingling. Two foursomes played as an eight-some for the tournament so we got to know other great people as well as play an exciting round of golf.”

Alexandra Hospital Foundation was incorporated in 1997 and officially opened its office with a ribbon cutting ceremony on November 7, 1998. Since the inception, over $6.5 million has been funded to the hospital from the foundation.

The Millards crew didn’t win any prizes but they did finish just one under.

“Next year is the 25th Anniversary of the tournament and so we’ll be back in full force to support Alexandra Hospital. The Hospital pays a significant role in the healthcare of Ingersoll and area and we’re proud to play a small part in their continued success.”
