The Brantford 99ers Minor Peewee AAA team has donated over $3,000 in cash and products to their furry friends at the Brant County SPCA.

Steve Gilbertson, CPA, CGA and Senior Accountant at Millards is father to one of the players that helped to raise the much needed funds for the local animal shelter.

“I’m proud of Aaron and his team for their hard work on behalf of the Brant County SPCA. The boys collected $593 during a two day fundraiser at the Gretzky Centre. In addition, the employees and Partners at Millards donated $1,809 for total of $2,402 in cash.”

Team members spent December 13th and 14th at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre collecting donations and supplies from the public and their hockey community.

“On top of that, the team collected at least $600 worth of supplies.”

The team had promoted a wish list of suggested donations including canned pet foods, animal toys, pet store gift cards and other items that the Brant County SPCA can use to operate.

The Peewee players had the opportunity to present all of the donations to the SPCA and received a tour of the shelter.

Gilbertson says that the boys were touched by the experience and got to visit the recipients of their generously.

“That day they saw many of the animals who will benefit from their contributions and learned that the society is working toward raising enough funds to build and relocate to a new facility.”

The shelter, located at 539 Mohawk Street Brantford, was built in 1969.

The Brant County SPCA is a not-for-profit, non-government funded organization that has been providing animal protection and welfare services in the City of Brantford and the County of Brant for over 45 years.
