Martin Dixon, CPA, CA, LPA and Partner at Millards says that while the proper permitting may not have been obtained, they feel the benefit of the project should outweigh the importance of paperwork.
“We didn’t really dot all of our I’s and cross all of our T’s as far as the City Planning Department is concerned but we are hoping that Mayor Chris Friel and council will be as excited about this project as we are and be accommodating. “
The new building project comes in response to the ongoing stream of maternity leaves at Millards Chartered Professional Accountants.
“In the last few years, our firm has had several people on mat leave at any given point in time. We decided that we should take steps in order to make the transition back to work more seamless for these individuals.”
The new venture is located adjacent to the main Millards facility in a house owned by Brantford’s largest accounting firm.
“We had an opportunity to put an empty building on our site to good use. As a result, we are proud to announce that we broke ground on our new venture today.”
The property will become the home of Millards Day Care Centre. Day care workers will offer enhanced learning programs designed specifically by Millards Partners.
“Every child will learn some accounting skills as part of the program. Millards Chartered Professional Accountants is constantly seeking outstanding new talent and we’re looking at this as a feeder program and source for future employees.”
Dixon expects that there will be “extra” room in the program for children from the community.
“As long as your toddler shows a capacity for differential calculus and algebra, we’ll have a place for them in the sandbox.”
