This year Millards has raised $10,000 for the Brantford Food Bank and an additional $1,000 for the Hagersville Food Bank.
“We know that food banks are experiencing extremely high demand this year because of the effects of COVID-19,”
Tannis Atkinson, Millards Document Processor coordinated the firm’s fundraising campaign this year.
“Millards Partners and staff have seen the increased need during the pandemic so we wanted to raise more than last year. I am delighted that we more than doubled the goal we set for ourselves.”
Millards has seven offices across Southern Ontario including a Hagersville location. This year, staff and partners also donated to the Hagersville Food Bank and the firm matched staff donations. The total contribution was $1,000.
Cathy Redding is an Accounting Technician in the Hagersville office.
“The Hagersville Food Bank is a vital source of support for some of the most vulnerable members of our community. The Christmas season is about giving and showing love to others. This is just one of the ways that we can celebrate this joyous time of year, regardless of how different it currently looks.”
Food banks across the province are experiencing difficult times. Heather Vanner, Brantford Food Bank Executive Director says that food banks across the province are facing challenges meeting the food requirements of those in need.
“We have seen food donations decrease as many of our volunteers have rightly chosen to self-isolate. This creates manpower challenges.”
The mission of the Brantford Food Bank, as their website explains, is simple: “We want to ensure everyone has access to food and can get help when they need it.”
The Partners and staff at Millards are encouraging their family, friends and clients to contribute if they can to help those who are hungry.
Online donations to the Brantford Food Bank can be made through Canada Helps.
