The Partners and staff of Millards Chartered Accountants congratulate Quinn Bateson on passing her final examination to obtain the designation of Chartered Professional Accountant.
The youngest of her family, Bateson is following in her father’s footsteps. Terry Bateson was a partner at Millards for many years. Today, father and daughter often discuss accounting and tax topics at family gatherings.
“The conversations get technical sometimes and I’m sure they’re boring to the rest of the family. It’s obvious that we’re both passionate about our fields of interest and the work we do.”
Born and raised in Brantford, Bateson attended Brantford Collegiate Institute before pursuing her career in accounting at Queens University in Kingston. Graduating with honours from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Economics program in 2009, Bateson continued her studies at Laurier University in Waterloo. She received a diploma in Accounting in 2012.
“I like the complexity of working with numbers. Accounting is like puzzle solving to me and I get a lot of fulfillment from helping clients with their various business and planning challenges.”
Bateson has worked at Millards as a summer student for the last few years. She began full-time in January 2013 and has worked in a support capacity for Millards Partners Simon Salole & Mike Terdik.
“I have learned a great deal from Simon and Mike and I look forward to applying my new credentials to the benefit of existing and new clients. Millards is growing every-year and it’s exciting to be working with such a dedicated and driven team”
In addition to her passion for accounting, Bateson is community minded. She has been a board member for the Alzheimer Society of Brant for 3 years. Recently she has become the Treasurer for the group.
“I was motivated by a family connection to Alzheimer’s Disease and I’m proud of what this organization is doing locally. We are growing and expanding our services in this community every year.”
Bateson appreciates being part of a like-minded firm.
“Millards is involved in the community and I’m thrilled to work for an organization that does such great things on so many levels.”
